With 39 years of law enforcement, prosecutorial, and forensic experience, I am uniquely qualified to lead Spartanburg through these transformative times. From serving on uniform patrol and leading violent crime investigations to establishing a Coroner's Office with advanced forensic capabilities, I have dedicated my career to protecting our community with integrity, transparency, and results.

I have known Rusty Clevenger for many years, and his unwavering dedication, honesty, and compassion have left a lasting impression on me and my family. As the Spartanburg County Coroner, Rusty played a pivotal role in my late wife Dana Satterfield's murder case in 1995. During one of the most difficult times in our lives, Rusty was always there to answer our questions and provide support, even long after the case was solved and closed.
Rusty Clevenger is one of the finest Christian Men that I know. He has faithfully served this community for years. He has worked diligently to bring the overdoes deaths down because he cares about the people. I have asked him to come and speak to our residents on the effects of drugs on them and their families. He came without hesitation. He would make a great Sheriff because of his live for the people and the calling that God has on his life, which is to serve the people of this county faithfully, and it is a calling.”
My family has known the Clevenger family for over 40 years. In that time I've personally witnessed the character and work ethic of them all; from Rusty's dad, all the way down to him and his younger brothers. In his role as Coroner, I know people that have been pleased with his office, his professionalism, and his sense of duty in determining the "why" behind the deaths that come across his office's responsibility. When I heard the Sheriff's position would be open for a new person, I could not think of anyone more qualified, more prepared, and more fit for serving our County than Rusty.”

I learned so much more about Rusty's professional manner by seeing what few of the public get to see. Rusty is compassionate and kind to those who are left devastated by the sudden death of a loved one. Rusty is committed to finding answers and solving cases. His work places him alongside the sheriff's office and the city police. Rusty has taken every training course offered. There are not enough words to encompass his level of experience. The Sheriff's office is no place for inexperience. Rusty is also respected across the state. He has also mentored newly-elected coroners. This is who we need as our Sheriff.
